David Blackburn is one of the world’s most respected and trusted impresarios and talent scouts for finding emerging operatic talents, identifying professional artists around the world and bringing together institutions from all over the world to make better opera. 

He founded and manages NYIOP, which scouts singers and organizes professional opera auditions around the world. Since its creation in 2002, the NYIOP Auditions have brought over 150 opera houses to hear singers in New York City, San Francisco, Beijing, Berlin, Bologna, Napoli and Vienna, as well regularly scouting young and professional artists in over 50 other cities internationally over the past 10 years.  His work thru NYIOP has helped literally thousands of singers to gain an untold number of professional opportunities.  It is hard to find a single roster of a performance that does not have the name of an artist that has benefitted from NYIOP since 2003.

Mr. Blackburn also acts as a professional consultant to a number of major opera houses and agencies worldwide. Currently he serves as an the International Strategic Consultant to the Ibáñez-Atkinson Foundation in Santiago, Chile, where he helped to conceive of and create Chile’s first International Opera Studio. He is also the Chief Artistic Consultant to the studio of the Bolshoi Opera in Moscow and on the faculty of the Internationale Opernstudio of Opernhaus Zürich.
